![]() | Steve Hudson has been performing professionally for the last eight years on a consistent basis, though he has a history of performing from the age of 10. Steve has completed his Bachelor of Music at The University of Newcastle, majoring in singing. His focus was on classical vocal training. Over the past five years he has performed annually as a singer/entertainer/double bass player, with the “Ultra Swing Lounge” to sellout crowds. The show has also been involved in various, regular corporate functions and community events. In 2005 he toured NSW with Ultra Swing, with rave reviews. Steve is the co-creator of the show and, with Daniel Stoddart, has been successful in revamping the show each year to create a new look and sound to keep both loyal and new fans satisfied and wanting more. It has become a Newcastle tradition, with its own dedicated following. Prior to Ultra Swing Lounge, Steve performed roles in various musicals such as the 30th Anniversary of Grease the musical, West Side Story, Les Miserable, Sweeney Todd and many others. Steve was also the vocal coach for the professional stage production of Disney’s High School Musical in Newcastle. He also conducts private singing/ bass/ guitar and music tutoring. He has worked with many covers bands throughout his career, ranging from disco, 80’s to Top 40’s repertoire, singing and playing bass. He has also been working on his own CD with a range of Jazz/Blues songs, covers and originals. Steve is a School Learning Support Officer at Hunter School of Performing Arts, working with special needs children and finds this very rewarding. He also is the director of the Middle School Chior and is involved with other musical ensembles throughout the school. He volunteers his services and assists the world renowned regional choir “Hunter singers”. He also assists “Hunter Kids Sing”. Steve toured the UK and France in 2000 and
2002 with The University of Newcastle Chamber Choir as a soloist. He performed
solos in St Pauls Cathedral London, West Minister Abbey, Notre Dame Paris,
Middle Temple Hall, and many more. |
